I. Introduction to the subject

A. Spiritual warfare and Third Wave movement

Firstly of all I need to say that this study has nothing to do with the Third Wave movement and those who espouse similar positions in regard to spiritual warfare. My understanding of spiritual warfare has a different ideology, i.e. a different way of understanding God, the universe, and humanity.

We don’t see in the Bible that God and Satan are at war with each other, where men live in a constant torment because of the devils attacks and see a devilish activity all over the place.

The Devil is real and we must not give a place to the Devil in our lives and be deceived. The threat is real, but we must not exaggerate it, because our battle over world domination has already been fought and won by our Lord Jesus Christ and Jesus promised us He would never leave us or forsake us.

B. Redefining Spiritual Warfare

I believe that the New Testament addresses the issue of spiritual warfare mostly to refer to the tensions, the conflicts, the ethical options, and the worldview choices which Christians must face, although we know the Bible reveals that the Devil uses all tensions, conflicts and bad options against mankind.

When we come to spiritual warfare as the only paradigm to define the Christian experience, particularly when it comes to the interaction between our sphere of existence and the demonic world, we may be going beyond what the Scripture intended.

The metaphor of spiritual warfare can be useful, but it can lead to a gross distortion of our perception if we sublimated or turned the spiritual warfare into the only and absolute representation of the Christian life.

C. The Danger of Paranoia

According to Peter Wagner and other such specialists, there is no way to ever be certain that one is not being attacked, possessed, demonized, or otherwise influenced by evil spirits. In fact, one must live under the assumption that Satan and/or his minions are constantly active in one’s life in one fashion or another.

This worldview can misleading, i.e young people who are going through profound physical and psychological changes in their teens can be particularly vulnerable if they are led to think that these changes are likened with demonic activity.

There are people who link menstrual cycle with devil activity. They say excessive blood-flow during a woman's period is from Satan. A Christian told me when he goes out to evangelize, if a dog barks it is from Satan. Another Christian told a mum that her son was possessed because he stuttered.

Some preachers 'deify' Satan to a such point that looks if "God is the Looser and the Devil the winner"!

Don't be so paranoid with the devil like some people!

D. Manipulation and Spiritual Abuse

Another concern about the Third Wave ideology is related to the critical importance given to leaders who claim to have a special gift of discernment regarding the presence of evil spirits in someone’s life or in some given location.

Consciously or unconsciously these leaders put themselves in a position of authority over people who may be at a particularly vulnerable point of their lives. If they exaggerate their authority, psychological or spiritual manipulation and abuse is an ever-present danger.

Some of the ideas above were taken from the site below:

E. Spiritual warfare, praise and preaching

I am not very rigid when it comes to the format of our meetings, as I prefer to give more importance to the content. But regardless of the format, I believe our meetings, particularly on Sundays, should always have at the centre:
Praise, exalting God’s Sovereignty and the redemptive work of Christ.

Exposition of the Word to build up our faith and feed our biblical knowledge.

Preaching the gospel to the unsaved.

Public meetings on Sunday should not become deliverance meetings

The Church must organize moments to dedicate to Spiritual Warfare that could be carried in people’s homes or in a Church.  Believers individually should also take moments for Spiritual Warfare, but without becoming obsessed to the point where they put Spiritual Warfare at the Centre of their lives.

I am not against Churches keeping a moment in the end of their Sunday meetings, following the praise and the exposition of the word and the preaching of the gospel, to make an appeal for people who want to come to the front for prayer or to give their lives to Christ.  And if there is a person that could be under demonic oppression or possession, it is better to take the person to another room and deal with them alone.

And if there is a person that could be under a demoniac oppression or possession it is better to take the person to another room and deal on her own with her.

Also, I think it is a good idea to have a time in our meetings to give the opportunity for believers to share a testimony or to leave an exhortation to the congregation. This is good and necessary if it is done in an orderly manner making sure it doesn't take the place of praise, exposition of the Word and preaching of the Gospel, which ought always to keep the central place in our meetings.

When we remove praise, the exposition of the Word and the preaching of the Gospel from the centre of our meetings and our lives, and replace this centre with Spiritual Warfare or anything else, we are then beginning to lose our Spiritual Battle.

I say this with all my respect for brothers and sisters in Christ that follow some doctrines of the Third Wave. I have been in some Sunday meetings, where I heard 50 times the word 'Satan'; 30 times the word 'Spiritual Warfare' and only 5 or 10 times the word 'Christ' or 'God'?

We have to stay close to the Scriptures, and that will help us to keep balance in our meetings and in our Christian lives.

Important note: Churches shouldn't limit their activity only to the their Sunday service, but beyond this, they must be involved in at least the three following areas:

Evangelism and follow up.

Integration of the converts into the Church by baptism and discipleship.

Social action and missions.

E. Now we are ready to engage in Spiritual Warfare without being misled.

However we must not ignore that there is a spiritual battle to fight and to have victory over the devil we have to watch and pray.

Someone once said that the Church is like the Island of the Life of Christ, surrounded by the sea of the death of Satan. But those inside the Island of the Life of Christ must be careful, because if they are playing with just one finger in the sea of the death of Satan, they will suffer the consequences!

We must not be deceived by the devil, ignoring him. Many believers have already fallen into this great trap.

This is what the devil is looking for, to blind believers! If we ignore him, he is free to do his destructive work without anybody opposing him!

One of the ways to be involved in spiritual warfare is to read the Bible and pray at the same time, proclaiming the defeat of Satan and the victory of Christ, on behalf of people or situations we want to see God bringing salvation, restoration and freedom.

Now we are ready to be engaged in Spiritual Warfare without be misled.

I I. Principalities and powers.

A. Our struggle is against the powers of this dark world

In Galatians 5:16 the Bible calls on believers to walk in the Spirit and not satisfy the desires of the flesh, but in Ephesians 6:12 the Bible shows that “our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms”.

I will speak about these spiritual identities that are under the orders of the devil, designating them from spirits.

I will try to clarify their activity, explain how we can be on our guard and watch for them, and how to and how to combat them effectively.

Believers from our Western World reveal a great ignorance about the activity of these identities and, hence, are suffering for their ignorance. Western society in general is suffering terrible results due to a large penetration of spirits.

And according to prophecy, the situation will become worse!

Revelation 18:2 "So exclaimed with powerful voice, saying: Fallen! Fallen is Babylon the great. She has become a home for demons, and a haunt for every evil spirit and a haunt for every unclean and detestable bird. "

A Prophecy is normally linked with a warning. In this text we are warning about the penetration of spirits in the ends of the time.

B. The scheme of the principalities and powers.

The great trap of the devil is to keep people in ignorance, because ignorant people don’t know that they have been deceived. This study is to warn us about devil´s traps, getting out of our ignorance and at the same time to involve us in a spiritual battle in favour of our children, Churches and our society in general.

The victory against the spirits can only be achieved through the: "It is written" Matthew 4:1-11, as the Word of God is the sword of the Spirit.

Ephesians 6:17 “Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God”.

But we must not ignore that the devil also uses the Word of God – the "it is written". During the temptation Satan said to Jesus:

Matthew 4:5 “Then the devil took him to the holy city and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. 6 If you are the Son of God," he said, "throw yourself down. For it is written: He will command his angels concerning you, and they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.

Satan twists the Word of God, making people add or take off words, to mislead believers and Churches.

We need to put the Word of God first in our Spiritual Battle, but we also need the power of the Spirit and God’s supernatural revelation and guidance to be engaged in this war.

We must not forget that this battle does not take place in the realm of the intellect, but in the spiritual realm, and with the help, first of all, of the Bible, we often need to penetrate into the spiritual realm and pray not just with our intellect but also with our *** spirit.

*** I’ am not speaking here about praying in tongues, but about praying with our human spirit together with our mind (filled by the power of the Spirit of God).

C. Two seductions

In this study we will talk about the two major seductions, the seductions of the flesh and religious seductions.

Re: religious seductions, the Christian Churches, including evangelicals, are today an avenue more and more used by the devil to carry out such religious seductions by the methods mentioned above: twist, add or take off the word of God.

In our pre-apocalyptic society – Babylon- where the ministry of iniquity is on increase, the spirits do not act only in the dark rooms of the mediums, through the horoscope or spiritualist books, but they will have access to Christian halls, they will be involved in false worship, and in pretend revival meetings, conferences, radio and television.

And in this environment called Christian, where we may find many born again Christians, the spirits twist/add/take off the Word of God, to attract, seduce and acquire people.

D. Familiarization with the spirits

Some theologians are using the term familiar spirit to speak of a specific type of spirit that seeks to familiarize gradually with a person, to make her possess, as it was the case of that young lady who had a spirit of divination, which gave great profit to their lords. Acts 16:1.

We see other cases of people who have become possessed in Acts 8:7, 19:12-13

Although I do not know whether or not I agree with the term familiar spirit (probably not) I agree however that the process of possession starts in a gradual and subtle way in which the person begins to become familiarized with a spiritual identity, and if the person doesn't break this relationship, they will eventually be possessed or enslaved by the spirit, without being aware of it.

I agree however that the process of possession start in a gradual and subtle way in which the person began to be familiarized with a spiritual identity, and if the person don’t break this relationship, ultimately will become possessed or enslaved by the spirit, without being aware of the fact.

E. Do not mess around with the devil

The old saying: “Do not play with the devil”; is warning for both unbelievers and believers!
Please continue to read this article, if you want to become effective in this battle, in order to protect your family, the Church and society in general from Satan’s activity, by using prayer and the Word of God, which is the sword of the Spirit, and the power and supernatural revelation of God.
If you do not feel that God is specifically calling you to engage in this spiritual battle and this type of ministry, you may want to finish reading here or feel free to continue reading if you are generally interested in this topic.
I I I. The process of possession and oppression
A. We must not allow the thief to kill and destroy

When talking about the way spirits gradually familiarize themselves with humans, I will use the term "possession" for unbelievers and the term "enslavement" (oppression) for the believer.

This is to say that the "familiarization" of the unbeliever and the believer with a spirit, reaches different levels of intimacy. Hence, it is quite possible that the theologians who argue that a believer can not be possessed have biblical reasons to defend this view.

Knowing that believers cannot be possessed by the devil,  does this mean we will we not do anything?

Will we let believers along with their children, members of their church, friends, colleagues and neighbours continue to be tormented, enslaved and oppressed by the spirits? Will we look carelessly and calmly at the thief as he continues to kill, destroy, enslave and oppress (John 10:10), and not do anything?

The process of possession by a spirit has three stages: the attraction, the seduction and acquisition:

B. The three devil’s steps.

1. The attraction

The first step is attraction.

What attracts the person to the occult or supernatural realm, and consciously or unconsciously the person enters in contact with "the world of spirits."?

What drives a person to be attracted by spirits?

The occult creates a certain curiosity, because people like to know what is hidden, unknown to them. The same can be said about the supernatural world, and the mystical power that attracts people, even believers, but, unfortunately, often, they do not know how to differentiate between the spiritual sphere of God and of Satan, because they lack scriptural knowledge.

There is also the fact of people wanting to know the future, what is going to happen, and, hence, it is easy to become familiar with schemes that claim to have knowledge of the future. It may be astrology, horoscope and even prophecy.

There are others who want to communicate with family members who died. And many say they have received visits from family members already dead and talk with them, without knowing that they are speaking with a spirit.

Then we have people who suffer from problems of rejection, inferiority, insecurity, depression, psychological and psychiatric diseases, or live slaves of certain things (drugs, alcohol, sex, gambling, manias etc.) or they have familiars in this situation, and seek an answer, a solution for in contact with the occult or the supernatural.

We could speak of many people seeking relief, solutions or healing through dubious means or people! Some take long time until they acknowledge their mistake and be free from the familiarity with the spirit, but others have left things go so far that have reached the point of "possession" or, at least, are "tormented by a spirit all their life” .

There are many cases of homes destroyed, depression and even suicide because of the involvement with the spirits, in hope to resolve certain problems.

In Christian churches there is hunger for supernatural power, believers seek revival, healing, release, restoration and signs and wonders! If leaders are biblically ignorant about the activities of spirits, or there are false workers, opportunists within the church, this search for supernatural power can easily open a door for “the enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour” 1 Peter 5:8

Satan is presented as the "tempter" but also as the "seducer". When we look to the spiritual realm, even having good intentions, we must be careful, watch and be in our guard, as the devil, our enemy, looking for someone to devour. We must always be very careful with the search of the unknown or the supernatural world. Because it is the realm where the “angels”, but also the “demons” live and act.

The point I am defending is that the attraction is gradual and subtle and starts with a very slight familiarity with a "spirit". Generally speaking, nobody gets slave (or oppressed) by the first contact with the spirit. Firstly, the spirit creates an environment of attraction, secondly, he creates a scenario which leads the person to the seduction.

The person who began a "familiarity" with a spirit through the situations mentioned above, using a means, methods, doctrines or wrong persons, will have gradually more and more intimacy with the “spirit”, and then the seduction begins to take place, and may lead the person to the point of possession or enslavement of (oppression).

It is much easier to break the familiarity when the process is only in the point of attraction. Then, when the person is already seductive and later slave or possessed, it is very difficult, almost impossible sometimes, to break the tie.

The Lord Jesus said: However this kind goes not out but by prayer and fasting. Matthew 17:21

2. The seduction

The second step is seduction

The “seduction” began right in the beginning of the attraction, when a person begins to establish a familiarity with the spirit, or the spirits.

Right in the beginning of the attraction and seduction, the person who are familiar with a spirit thinks, in most cases, that the spirit is a good companion, and that some good benefit will come from this companionship.

The person, mistakenly, thinks that the spirit will provide good information and a great help in resolving a problem, and will guide them in their search for supernatural power to resolve problems or illuminate them.

Moreover, most of the people in the beginning of the attraction and seduction do not know that they are in contact with an evil spiritual identity.

They think they are just going through experiences, fantasies, desires, imaginations and maybe having an experience with God or angels, and that will be good for them.

If they are believers they think they are doing experiences in the sphere of supernatural. And these experiences can only leave something good. But, they don’t realize that those experiences don’t come from God.

And so, little by little, the person attracted get under the seduction of the spirit. The seduction works like any other “addiction", as more close the person becomes with the spirit.

3. The acquisition

The third step is acquisition.

Summarizing, firstly, people for one on another reason are attracted by the occult and supernatural world. Secondly, people will gradually begin to be "seductive" by the spirits. Thirdly, we are going to see that the person without noticing will be acquired by the spirit.

The target of the spirit is to settle permanently in his life. Basically the person does not acquires anything, is the spirit that acquires the person.

If is a unbeliever the target is to possess him completely, if is a believer the target of the spirit is to oppress and enslave.

I am talking about innocent people who come into contact with the spirits, for example, the child was ill and parents looked for a cure in doubtful places. But, of course, there are people who voluntarily come into contact with the world of spirits to earn money or others favors.

C. The thirteen devil’s ways

Now, we will see at least twelve devil’s ways by which people can begin their familiarity with the spirits.

1. Divination

a. Definition of divination.

Divination is the act of predicting things or events distant in time and space through various practices. But sometimes, the practitioners pretend also to know the causes of these things or events. They also pretend to know situations about people’s life.

The Bible speaks against divination.

Leviticus 19:31'Do not turn to mediums or seek out spiritists, for you will be defiled by them. I am the LORD your God.

Leviticus 20:6: I will set my face against the person who turns to mediums and spiritists to prostitute himself by following them, and I will cut him off from his people.

Leviticus 20:27 A man or woman who is a medium or spiritist among you must be put to death. You are to stone them; their blood will be on their own heads.

Deuteronomy 13:1-3 If a prophet, or one who foretells by dreams, appears among you and announces to you a miraculous sign or wonder, 2 and if the sign or wonder of which he has spoken takes place, and he says, "Let us follow other gods" (gods you have not known) "and let us worship them," 3 you must not listen to the words of that prophet or dreamer. The LORD your God is testing you to find out whether you love him with all your heart and with all your soul.

The divination is vague, confusing, and its main objective is profit as it was the case of that young lady who had a spirit of divination, which gave great profit to their lords. Acts 16:1.

Balaam was also a false prophet that lived for profit. See the story of Balaam in Numbers 22, and see how

Epistle of Jude urged us to contend for the faith and not rushed for profit into Balaam’s error. Jude 11

b. Difference between divination and prophecy

There are many differences between the divination and biblical prophecy, but the key is that divination is not based on the Bible and don’t glorify God, because its main objective is profit and pride.

The prophecy is based on the Bible and serves the purposes of the Kingdom of God. I speak about prophecy in my blog. See about the doctrines of the Holy Spirit (it is in Portuguese)

However, the leaders of Christian Churches, should do a deeper study about the gift of prophecy, and the role of the prophet, and not allow the exercise of prophecy to be practice within their churches on a superficial and frivolous way like it is the case, unfortunately.

This will certainly open the door for problems, conflicts and spirits, the reason why we should be careful with the prophecies within the churches, which are not based in the Word of God or addressed by the Holy Spirit?

If what we hear in Churches are not prophecies, because they are not based in the Word of God and not addressed by the Holy Spirit, what are they? Predictions, imaginations, inventions or sinfulness thoughts? See Deuteronomy 13:1-5, Jeremiah 23:16-22

2. Visualization

The way visualization is used in Churches is not a valid tool in the Bible. It is not found in the Scriptures.

People create an image in their mind of something they want to achieve. Then, they use faith to make this picture a reality. The idea is to give birth to an image in the spiritual realm (a desire, a thing, a person, a plan etc.) and then make it a reality in the natural world.

There is a big difference between a vision and visualization. When a vision is genuine comes from God, visualization comes from people’s mind. We see in the Bible when people had a vision, their state of conscience changes, because there is a powerfully activity of the Spirit in that moment.

Visualization is one of the main tools used by the movements of faith, the Christian scientology, the movement of New Age (New Age), and is directly linked to positive thinking.

Christian churches are beginning to allow a practice in which believers say that they have seen pictures, giving to them by the Holy Spirit. They think that they can acquire knowledge and direct revelations from God through these images and pictures created in their minds, basically, in the same way that others practitioners and religions do, like for instance the "new agers".

And through these forms of visualization, in most cases, bizarre, odd and eccentric, a familiarity with the hidden world of spirits can start within the Churches.

What is sad, is that believers and pastors do not know that this is an ancient practice of occultism and other religions and is practice in the New Age movement (New Age).

The leaders should review this matter, study the Bible to see if there biblical basis for this kind of visualization (images, pictures) even if they do not involve positive thinking and is done with good intentions.

Romans 13:12 The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light

Ephesians 5:11 Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.

However, I am not saying that nobody can get from the Spirit of God, a name, a conviction, impression, knowledge, wisdom, prophecy, vision, dream or even hear the voice of God, internally or audibly, and even have an image or picture of something that for whatever reason God put in the mind or the heart of the person to prove, show or reveal him something, or for this person to reveal something of the Church of God.

What I am trying to do, is to draw our attention, firstly, for whatever the vision, this can never contradict the Word of God, or be involved with positive thinking, or bizarre doctrines about prosperity, unction, healing, cult of angels. Secondly, in my opinion, is not something that happens so regular and superficial as we see within Churches where people are constantly seeking images, pictures, trying to give a spiritual meaning to these images and pictures.

Unfortunately, visualization, which is a form of relationship with the hidden, is practiced by many Christian Churches around the world. In many Churches, visualization is constantly shared by believers in their meetings, and have almost replaced the time for preaching and teaching the Word of God.

In Church’s meetings is more useful when someone give a short testimony about the fidelity of God, to encourage believers who are going through hard times, or leave a word of exhortation for believers to live holly lives and be more faithfully to the work of God.

3. Spiritualism and Spiritism

Isaiah 8:19 19 When men tell you to consult mediums, who whisper and mutter, should not a people inquire of their God? Why consult the dead on behalf of the living?

Leviticus 19:31 Do not turn to mediums, for you will be defiled by them. I am the LORD your God.

Spiritualism is a modern name for witchcraft, spiritism, astrology, tarology, necromancy etc. so although there may be some differences between these different practices of occultism. A spiritualist is a mystic person who becomes a channel, receiving communications from the world of spirits.

Through the mediums, witches etc. the spirits have access to our world and seek familiarity with people who contact them. Someone who for whatever reason comes in contact with the world of spirits through one of these mediums or witches should immediately seek purification by the blood of Jesus, because the spirit will never leave a person anymore. We need to brake the tie through prayer and the blood of Jesus.

The spirits are predators? There is someone who escapes from a predator if he enters in the predator’s field of action? This serves both to the organisms, animals, men or spirits. Predators don’t forgive someone who falls in his visual field.

With the spirits, people only need to read a spiritualist book or look the horoscope, and a predator can grasp the person forever.

4. Talking with the spirits

This is a warning to those who are directly involved in spiritual battle with the spirits.

Pray to God and on behalf of Jesus if necessary and with the support of other Christians order the spirit to leave the person, but don’t talk with the spirit.

We must not forget that the spirit usually only leave the person when she wants to be release, and in most cases it needs time, clarification and prayer.

For this reason, the time a person took to be familiarized with the spirit until she became possessed or enslave, is the same time she needs be released. We need to teach gradually the person until she knows the truth about the traps of the devil in her life.

Ephesians 6:11 "Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes”.

This process of liberation (exorcism) is a gradual process, and it takes time, study, perseverance and much prayer until the person has the desire to be free from the traps of the spiritual identity that tricked her, without her knowing it.

Gradual exorcism is the best exorcism, the safer and more solid we can practice.

Clearly, we should not be against a more direct for of exorcism, where we have no time to clarify the person, perhaps because she is suffering from a severe case of possession or enslavement, and we have to confront the spirit without prior preparation.

But this type of exorcism more frontal must be done under the guidance and power of God and by men and women experienced in this area and who have gifts of spiritual battle.

You can give an order to the spirit to leave a person, but don’t talk never with the spirits because you run the risk of being mislead by "the doctrine of demons."

I Timothy 4:1 “The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons."

If we talk to the spirits, we may not be mislead by anything they say, but we might open a door to the spirit to manifest and disturbed weak people in our midst.

5. Rebuking spirits publicly

We must not try to release people during worship or bible studies meetings. We must never give an opportunity for the spirits to manifest publicly.

If during a worship or bible study meeting there is a manifestation of a spirit in a person, we must immediately take the person to an isolated place, preferable outside the church, and three or four courageous people will be involved in the spiritual battle outside the presence of other members and people of the Church.

The persons should be followed in their home, and we should teach gradually the truth to them, preparing the way for them to be willingly and wanted to be released. Ideally, it is better if the person doesn’t returning to the Church, before she is completely released.

Don’t forget that if the spirit manifest publicly within the church, we are exposing our people to the activity of these demonic spirits. The most vulnerable people are children, young people and other people who are going through struggles and emotional problems. They can be our own family. We must protect them.

The spirits want to live with the humans and even with animals. They want to live in a body and not in the abyss.

Matthew 8:28 " When he arrived at the other side in the region of the Gadarenes,[a] two demon-possessed men coming from the tombs met him. They were so violent that no one could pass that way. 29"What do you want with us, Son of God?" they shouted. "Have you come here to torture us before the appointed time?" 30Some distance from them a large herd of pigs was feeding. 31The demons begged Jesus, "If you drive us out, send us into the herd of pigs." 32He said to them, "Go!" So they came out and went into the pigs, and the whole herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake and died in the water”.

The meetings are to worship God and study the Bible, or are gospel meetings, not to delivered people from the demons!

If a Church can provide times for this type of activity, it is better if possible to be in the homes of the people who are suffering from these problems, or then in the Church, but these meetings must be lead by experimented people and not involve the other members of the Church.

6. Praying and preaching the angels

Many revivalists pastors of the movements of faith incite people to seek contact with the angels.
Todd Bentley said he was visited by the angel "Emma", a woman!

An angel of prosperity! Because this visit the members made fabulous gifts for the Church. Todd even said that God himself told him, in effect, 'Lay aside Jesus! Do not preach Jesus right now ... preach about the angel (Emma) and the supernatural because that's what the church needs. They all know about Jesus, but not about the angels”.

But, do we find in the Bible a servant of God praying to an angel or seeking for their help? Or preaching angels? We can see angels sent by God to talk or to help a servant of God. But we never see a servant of God seeking directly the help of an angel or praying to them!

It is different to invoke God, and seek his protection, and know that His help can come from angels He send to help us, than to look and ask directly help from them.

Hebrews 1:14 “Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?”

At this point I am not only to prevent you to invoke the angels, but also to try to see them. Some Christians become obsessed with the ideas of seeing the angels. Have pictures of them!

The practice of Todd Bentley is an aberration, not just because it teaches that we must pray the angels, but because he preaches the angels. He preaches "Emma" not “Jesus”.

II Corinthians 11:13-14 “For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, masquerading as apostles of Christ. And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.

The angels, many say that they appear in their churches, or rooms, are then angels of God or spirits?
I John 4:1 "Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world”.

7. Addictions, medicine and fantasies.

We could say much about it! But I do not want to be exhaustive.

If there are people with whom we are in contact, may even be our relatives, or members and visitors of our churches, which have a predisposition for an addition or a perversion and sexual fantasy any, we must break the power of this tie by prayer and by teaching of Word of God.

It may be that drugs, alcohol, gambling, pornography, homosexuality, prostitution etc

All kinds of additions, perversions and diseases are directly link with the original sin. Jesus took on the cross all our sin and sins, and by his death, burial and resurrection he has power over Satan, sin and death.

Jesus can break any addition, cure any disease, and forgive any sin if He wants and when He wants!

Isaiah 53:4-5 He took them on our disease and our pain brought on themselves, and we'll reputávamos by demented, wounded from God and oppressed. But he was traspassado for our transgressions and crushed for our iniquities, the punishment that brings us peace was on him, and his bruises were sarados.

An addition or perversion can come from the directly activity of a spirit, because a person gave room to be attracted by the spirit, seductive and in the end was acquired by the spirit. But, another important issue is to realize that even if the cause of an addition or perversion doesn’t come from a directly activity of a spirit, any addition will gradually open the door to the spirits.

The spirits never leave a person if the person continue living in sin. And the spirits can ultimately own or enslave the person, and they will try tempt and trouble people who are living around the person, friends or relatives.

There are believers and even leaders who are struggling with an sinful area in their life that will eventually open the door to the spirits if they are not relieve from those sins.

How many leaders don’t fall in corruption and certain sexual perversions like theft, adultery, prostitution and even homosexuality and pornography, because they entertained sinful thoughts and ideas which led them to those things!?

8. Media and Technology

Many years ago we heard radical teachings about television, that it was "the window of the devil." Today, we could say the same of other technological means!

We can agree or not with this statement. But, certainly, we all agree that the spirits can use the technological means: television, computer, net, games, videos, films etc. to spread their diabolic activity in the midst of society, homes, schools, churches etc

We must not forget that there are men and women, called "children of the devil", who are using everything, and also technological means to serve the purpose of their father.

Acts 13:6-12 “There they met a Jewish sorcerer and false prophet named Bar-Jesus, 7who was an attendant of the proconsul, Sergius Paulus. The proconsul, an intelligent man, sent for Barnabas and Saul because he wanted to hear the word of God. 8But Elymas the sorcerer (for that is what his name means) opposed them and tried to turn the proconsul from the faith. 9Then Saul, who was also called Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, looked straight at Elymas and said, 10"You are a child of the devil and an enemy of everything that is right! You are full of all kinds of deceit and trickery. Will you never stop perverting the right ways of the Lord? 11Now the hand of the Lord is against you. You are going to be blind, and for a time you will be unable to see the light of the sun. Immediately mist and darkness came over him, and he groped about, seeking someone to lead him by the hand. 12When the proconsul saw what had happened, he believed, for he was amazed at the teaching about the Lord”.

Elimas, the magic a "a child of the devil," didn’t want to lose a customer, and he did everything to blinded Sérgius Paulus because he didn’t want him to believe in the Word of God. Don’t forget that sorcery and witchcraft dominated the region, and he didn’t want for the proconsul to speak against his business (the devil’s business!)

Today, we see that television and other technologies are in the hands of many people who are completely against God, "children of the devil"?

For instance, how many people are not being deceived by astrology and sorcery and other heresies and perversions through programs on television or through magazines and Internet? Or through reading the horoscope, tarot propagated by technological means?

We should pray for the protection of our young people and children, who are dealing daily with the technology of our days.

Technology means can be used by spirits as windows between the two dimensions (supernatural and natural) through which they are passing diabolic information to our world.

Everything starts with a subtle familiarity with the people who are receiving the information until the point, that is not just the information that passes, but the spirits themselves penetrate through these windows to seductive people and ultimately own their minds and bodies.

9. Music, art, science and philosophy.

Nobody likes those areas more than me! I am not a musical person, but I love music, and even "rock music! I also like art, science and I have a great passion for philosophy. If you look my blog you will notice this".

However I believe that we should be careful with those areas, beginning with music inside of our churches.

The music must always be a vehicle for the biblical message and not an end in itself. The music inside a Church should not be just to awaken up people’s emotion, but to lead people to God.

It is true that people are also emotional beings, but their emotions should always be under the control of their spirit. We know by the Bible, that this is only possible if the person has an encounter with the Spirit of God.

An emotion or an exacerbated feeling (exaggerated, large volume) will lead the person to lose their psychological balance, and create a personality problem, which could lead them to an eccentric behavior and even open the door to demonic possession or be enslavement or oppressed by a spirit.

It is difficult to compartmentalizing the soul and spirit, and understand their interconnection. But music that does not allow people to hear the voice of the Holy Spirit to speak to their spirit, but only fills their emotions, because of the rhythm and the noise, can produce a dissociative trance disorder and gradually open the door of people’s soul to the spirits.

The soul of the person awaken up because of the music, begins to seek the spiritual sphere. But as the spirit is not involved, the person can enter in a trance caused by the music, and be easily mislead and even seductive by the activity of demonic spirits.

We must be very carefully with any type of knowledge that doesn’t involve the human spirit and the Holy Spirit together, but involves only the human soul. It can be knowledge intellectual, scientific, philosophical, literary, artistic, musical, technological and religious.

The knowledge, whatever the type, produced and governed only by the human soul and to satisfy only the human soul, empty of spiritual meaning, and apart of the Spirit of God’s guidance, can be fatal, and open the door to spiritual identities who are seeking for all avenues to connect with the people, to penetrate in our world and possessed or enslave people.

10. Idolatry and worshiping saints

Exodus 20:3 You shall have no other gods before me 4 You shall not make for you image of sculpture, or any likeness of what is in heaven above, or below the earth, or in the waters under the earth.

The worship of saints, ancestors, stars, nature, men, animals, animals or demons are very similar. It is all idolatry.

Does the Bible make a links between idolatry and the worship of the spirits (demons)? If so, we can say that there is a connection between the cult of saints, ancestors, stars, men, animals, nature and the cult of the spirit.
What I mean is: when we are worshiping these things – saints, ancestors, stars, nature, men, animals - we are worshipping the demons.

We see the link between idolatry and demons below. The text speaks about the sacrifices offered to idols, and says that by offering sacrifices to idols, we are offering to the demons behind them.

I Corinthians 10:19 Consider the people of Israel: Do not those who eat the sacrifices participate in the altar? 19Do I mean then that a sacrifice offered to an idol is anything, or that an idol is anything? 20No, but the sacrifices of pagans are offered to demons, not to God, and I do not want you to be participants with demons.

Deuteronomy 32:16-17 They made him jealous with their foreign gods and angered him with their detestable idols. They sacrificed to demons, which are not God - gods they had not known, gods that recently appeared, gods your fathers did not fear”.

Psalm 106:36:38 They worshipped their idols, which became a snare to them. They sacrificed their sons and their daughters to demons. They shed innocent blood, the blood of their sons and daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan, and the land was desecrated by their blood.

An idol or a god can be: a statue, the sun, moon, an animal, a river or a mountain, the ancestors and saints, a person or anything that men put in place of God.

I think, we can also include money or other material goods which can become gods for us.

Why it is so difficult to penetrate the Word of God in a region where idolatry reigns? Because through idolatry people are worshiping demons, and the devil is against the gospel.

There are a high percentage of people possessed or oppressed by demons in a region where the devil reigns, because of the idolatry. If we study people’s behaviors and believes in such regions, will realize that some behaviors come from the familiarity people have with the spirits.

In which region of the world the spirits are more active in our days?

Some people would answer in Africa and Asia.

But, I would be inclined to say, basing in everything that I have been writing, that actually it is in the Western world where there are more devil activity.

Therefore there is increasingly a great contempt for the Gospel and we see that What is the mission of the believer? What is the true holiness?

The believers go to church, put the praise in the centre of worship (like a mantra), enjoy the communion with others, may even live a moral Christian, more or less, but have no sense of mission and holiness, not make the Christianity its true lifestyle, or put God first in what we do.

Today, the Churches in general the West don’t preach the gospel the lost. They are not sending missionaries abroad, and they are not engaged in charity like they should. And they are not living holly lives. There are a few exceptions!

Believers in the Western world Churches has almost completely lost consciousness of their mission in the world and the real mean of holiness.

Why? Because, people in the Western world have many gods! More gods than people of the third world!
We need a spiritual awakening.

11. Legalism and spirit of judgment

When we think that God is only interested with in people who follow the rules and doctrines of our Church, and because of that, we can only have fellowship with those believers, we fall fatally in the legalism, in other words in the hands of the devil.

Where there is legalism, reigns a spirit of judgment. Where there is a spirit of judgment, death reigns. The law of God, without grace, is a dead letter.

II Corinthians 3:6 He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant—not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life

I Corinthians 8:1-2 Now about food sacrificed to idols: We know that we all possess knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up.

We must use the knowledge of the Bible with humility. When we think that we have a higher knowledge of the Bible than other people, will happen in our lives what happened to someone who said:

"As I made the Bible my God, I stopped listening to the God of the Bible."

The Bible is the sword of the Spirit and not a bullet to shoot against the other people, often against our brothers in Christ.

When believers want to be masters of the Bible (more than others) they fall in the path of legalism, which will lead them to a religious ritualism and hypocrisy.

The knowledge of the Bible (science) makes Christians proud, if it is not mixed with humility, love and the grace. They will be lead to a spirit of judgment which will open the door to the work of demonic spirits.

When Churches don’t live in unity, and there is not love and tolerance between them, who reigns? God or the devil?

Ephesians 4: 1-3 As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.

Revelation 12:10 Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say: Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Christ. For the accuser of our brothers, who accuses them before our God day and night, has been hurled down.

James 3:14-18 But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast about it or deny the truth. Such "wisdom" does not come down from heaven but is earthly, unspiritual, of the devil. For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice. But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. Peacemakers who sow in peace raise a harvest of righteousness.

12. Resentfulness and lack of forgiveness to others.

a. Satan is very legalistic

Satan can become our "jailer" if we don’t forgive.

Matthew 18:34 Then the master called the servant in. 'You wicked servant,' he said, 'I canceled all that debt of yours because you begged me to. Shouldn't you have had mercy on your fellow servant just as I had on you?' In anger his master turned him over to the jailers to be tortured, until he should pay back all he owed.

This is how my heavenly Father will treat each of you unless you forgive your brother from your heart.

We see by these verses that if we don’t have mercy on others who have offended us, just as God had mercy on us, we will be tortured by the “jailers” until we pay back all we owed

b. God will let us be under the “jailer” if we don’t forgive.

Matthew 6:14-15 For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you”

God is not a "jailer" but on the text above, we see if we don’t forgive others God will let us to be tortured by the “jailer”

Colossians 2:14-15 Having canceled the written code, with its regulations, that was against us and that stood opposed to us; he took it away, nailing it to the cross. And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.

We see in the text above that Jesus Christ triumphed over the powers and principalities, but if we don’t forgive others we don’t benefit from His work in the cross, and instead we give room to the “jailer”.

c. We must confess our resentfulness against people

We must confess that we all can have resentment against people, particularly people who sin against us, and it can be our parents or relatives, who treated us badly, and even people who are already dead. By confessing our resentfulness against them, God will deal with the pain they caused us, and God is capable to heal us emotionally, and to help us to defeat the “jailer”.

Revelation 12:10 Then I heard loud voice from heaven, proclaiming: Now, came to salvation, the power, the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ, was expelled because the accuser of our brethren, even if the accused by day and night, before our God. 11 They therefore won because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word and gave testimony that, even in the face of death, not loved life itself.

Romans 16:20 And the God of peace, soon, under the smash your feet to Satan. The grace of our Lord Jesus is with you.

Let us to confess our sins, and proclaimed the victory in these and other texts that we can in the following sections.

13. Emotions and experience

I do not like a cold and legalistic meeting, where people are not free to express any emotion or to give a testimony or talk about a personal experience. I have already spoken in paragraph 11 about the danger of legalism and a spirit of judgment.

People should have the freedom to express their emotions with respect and reverence, raising their hands to heaven, if they want, singing with joy or giving a testimony about something.

Legalistic Churches that don’t allow people to express their emotions and freedom are usually dominated by a spirit of judgment. We have seen above that legalism can also open the door to the spirits.

But, emotions and experiences must be based on the word of God, and they shouldn’t never replace the preaching and teaching of the Word of God during the meetings.

There are churches where the meetings are taken by a long time of praise, sometimes dominated by a lot of noise and unnecessary excitement, lots of testimonies and prophecies which don’t have anything to do with the Word of God, and we never heard a sound preaching of the Bible.

An over emphasis is given to praise, prophecy, signs miracles, noise, emotions and experiences, and not enough in the preaching and teaching of the Word of God.

How do believers know what "it is written", if they are not under the sound of the Word of God as they should be.

The word of God is the sword of the Spirit. We see that Jesus mentioned the word of God to Satan Matthew 4:1-11. Satan also mentioned the Word o God to Jesus, during the temptation of Jesus, but in a twisted way.

We see that word of God is the key of all, for good and, unfortunately, sometimes, for bad, when used by Satan and his disciples.

If we know the word of God, Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming. Ephesians 4:14

Today, in the Western world, believers don’t understand that the mission of the church is not inside of the
Temple, worshiping the Lord or studying the Bible. The charismatic Churches give emphases to the worship, the conservators give emphases to the study of the Bible.

But although it is true that we need to edify our selves through worshiping the Lord, studying of the Bible, prayer, exercising the *** gifts of the Spirit and having fellowship with our fellow believers, our mission is out side of the Temple, by preaching the gospel to the lost souls, and at the same time helping the orphans and widows, the poor and those who are going through tribulation, expanding the Kingdom of God on earth.

*** Christians have different views about the gifts of the spirit. Some are cessacionists, others are continuationists. You can read on my blog about cessaciosnism and continuacionism.
God only gives the power of the Spirit to the ones who are engaged in His mission. We must not pray like the believers did in the upstairs room “they all joined together constantly in prayer” Acts 1:15-16, waiting for the outpouring of the Spirit, if we only want the power of the spirit to stay in the upstairs room.

And if we do pray for the outpouring of the Spirit to keep its overflow to our upstairs room, we are not going to receive it!

God will never give the power of His Spirit for believers to entertain each other in a Church, to enjoy worship or to edify only “himself”.

The power of the Spirit is giving firstly for the sake of the preaching of the Gospel.

Luke 24:49 stay in the city (Temple) until you have been clothed with power from on high.

And after they received the power, they didn’t stay in the upstairs room, in the city, because the commandment giving by Jesus was:

Acts 1:8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth

Believers who are giving spiritual energy away preaching the Gospel to the world, they will be constantly empowered by God. But believers who are not preaching the Gospel don’t need to be empowered by the God. It would be a waste of spiritual energy giving to them, as they are not using it obeying the commandment to preach the gospel.

Uncontrolled emotions and experiences in Churches, which are not in accordance with the Word, and are just used to enjoy ourselves, to lift our “astral” up (like some people say) are one of the best means (windows) that the spirits can use for familiarizing with Christians and mislead them.

IV. Sinfulness and devilish ties

I will not develop this theme separately because in some ways is already implicit in the previous chapters. I have only listed the seven ties below to help us to identify a few more areas the devil can use during the process of attraction, seduction and acquisition, that need to be broken by prayer and direct exorcism or preferable by gradual exorcism.

A. Ties with prostitution

B. Ties with additions and perversions

C. Ties with bad companies

D. Ties with the dead

E. Perverted ties within the family

F. Negative ties within the Churches

G. Resentfulness and lack forgiveness.

When one of these ties have existed in a family or a Church or a Nation for more than two generations, it becomes more difficult to break them. We must not forget that these ties can only be broken if there is recognition and confession of the person involved in a certain sin. If the tie exists for more than two generations, some people can be already dead, and they have never confessed the sin.

When there is only one generation, or the maximum two, usually people are still alive and can recognize and confess the sin. But, even so, for instance, if the younger generation (children) recognizes a tie in the family, and they make confession, but the older generation (parents) don’t want to recognize and confess, it will be also become more difficult to brake the tie.

However, Jesus in the cross took all our sins and defeated death and Satan. So, there is no tie that resist to His mighty power. In his mighty name we are able through prayer to brake chains that have existed for many generations in a family, Church or a Nation.

V. Exorcism, prayer and spiritual warfare

A. Two types of exorcism.

1. Direct exorcism.

We have already said that we believe in direct exorcism, which is a spontaneous confrontation practiced in severe cases. In theses case people can be so much under the power of the spirits, that have hardly the capacity to be clarified by the truth, as they have lost totally their consciousness and are ill and weak not just spiritually, but psychological and physical.

In the case of direct exorcism, we must confront the spirit expelling him from the person, which can happen in the first, second or third visit. If we are not able to expel the spirit using the method of direct confrontation, we have to start with her a gradual process of exorcism.

2. Gradual exorcism.

More certain is the exorcism that takes place gradually, visiting the people at home, studying the Bible and praying with her, seeking to clarify issues related to our salvation through the work of Christ in the cross. Also clarify to the person the work of Satan in this world through several ways and means until the person understand that she has fall in a demonic trap or tie. Explain her that Jesus came to save, forgive and He is able to release from these demonic traps and ties.

This gradual exorcism must be operated by believers who have a call for that and they are properly equipped for this task. Normally we should not act alone, we should have at least with us one or two people to help.

The spirits are strong and very clever.

The best place to meet the person, if we can, is in her home, as it is the place where the spirit operates in her life and maybe in her family’s life.

The exorcism may needs to expel the spirits from the house and the person’s family.

B. Prayer based on Bible promises

1. Definition and nature prayer based in Bible promises

In our prayer we need to declare the promises of the Bible, and the victory of Jesus Christ over sin, death and Satan, through his death, burial and resurrection.

We need to declare texts of the Bible, where the prophets, the apostles and Jesus Christ declare the power of God and His rule above all names and all things.

We have to teach these texts to the person, declare them with her in a loud voice during the spiritual therapy.

If we are in our own praying for the person, or other people, we have to declare in a loud voice these victorious texts of the Bible against the powers and principalities with faith and without any fear because in
Jesus we are more than victorious.

It is not the Bible full of promises of deliverance from sin, spiritual death and from our enemies - men or demons?

When we pray declaring the promises of God, and the victory of Jesus over sin, death and Satan, we are praying prophetically because we are praying on the base of the God’s servants prophecies about theses promises and Jesus victory. Jesus Himself is the author of many of these Biblical prophecies.

There is nothing more efficient and powerful to declare the Word of God to the devil: “It is written”, like Jesus did. When Satan heard it is written the third time, with an directly order to leave, he left Jesus and the angels came down to comfort Him.

If we confront the spirits with the Word of God we don’t run the risk of being been deceptive by Satan, falling in his ambushes.

The person in question, who created a familiarity with a spirit, and is now under deception or possession, or enslavement, needs to recognize her sins, and also the ways the spirit use to attracted and deceptive her, which could be reading the horoscope or taro or seeing a film or visiting a medium etc.

After the person recognize her sins, and the way Satan used to deceptive her, she must confess it, asking God’s forgiveness and declaring the victory of Christ and defeat of the devil, and the promises of God for her, through the texts of the Bible.

Apocalypse 22:14

C. Some cases for prayer.

1. The relatives of believers may be under Satan’s bondage

The spirits deceived familiars and friends of the believers There are many cases that familiars of brethren in Christ, men and women, who are faithfully people, but for some reason their relatives were attracted by a spirit through the ways I cited above, and in the end they become involved in prostitution, homosexuality, lesbianism, drugs, alcohol, Spiritualism or Spiritism, atheism and some were even involved with esoteric and satanic groups.

Which was the main cause for that? Can we put in question the fidelity of the believers, and this was the reason why their relatives fell in Satan’s traps and ties?

According to my opinion, I don’t think we can say that the main reason for that it is people’s infidelity. Also I think there are mysterious and unknown things beyond our comprehension, which we may never understand in this present life.

The only thing we can be sure and say is that we can’t play with the devil. And also we can refer to the process that the spirits use which includes 3 stages:

1. Attraction

2. Seduction

3. Acquisition

We can also say that if one of our relatives touched in a doubtful thing that led him to devil’s seduction, we have to function as a priest between God and the person.

A Priest can be a mediator, but not a redeemer. Only Jesus is a mediator and a redeemer.

A Priest can be a mediator in the sense that they placed them often between God and the people, praying for God’s forgiveness and deliverance. But they are there before God, feeling responsible for people’s sins if it was their own sins.

Ezra, Nehemiah did that. The High Priest had written in his Breastpiece twelve stones, one for each of the names of the sons of Israel when he came before God.

We must stay before God on behalf of our relatives, or on behalf of our Church and even our Nation, assuming that their sins are ours too, or at least we feel responsible for their sins. And then ask deliverance, forgiveness, mercy for us and them.

But as we see on the Bible, Priests need to be clean before God. They assumed that they are responsible for people’s sin, but as they are pleading for God’s intervention and forgiveness, they have to clean from sin to go to God’s presence.

II Thessalonians 2:8

VI. Watch out for the false prophets

What the Bible says about the false prophets and teachers. What should we do?

A. Beware of the false teachers.

Mathew 7:14 Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves.

Romans 16:17-19 I urge you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Keep away from them. 18For such people are not serving our Lord Christ, but their own appetites. By smooth talk and flattery they deceive the minds of naive people. 19Everyone has heard about your obedience, so I am full of joy over you, but I want you to be wise about what is good, and innocent about what is evil.

B. They mask as apostles of Christ.

Acts 20:28-30 Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. [A] Be shepherds of the church of God, [b] which he bought with his own blood. 29I know that after I leave, savage wolves will come in among you and will not spare the flock. 30Even from your own number men will arise and distort the truth in order to draw away disciples after them.

II Corintians 11:13 For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, masquerading as apostles of Christ. 14And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. 15It is not surprising, then, if his servants masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will be what their actions deserve.

C. By their fruits shall know them.

Mathey 7:15 By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?

D. They mislead many.

Matthew 24:11 And many false prophets will appear and deceive many people.

E. They mislead with false signals.

Matthew 24:24 For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and miracles to deceive even the elect-if that were possible.

F. They teach false doctrines and heresies.

I I Corinthians 11:3 But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent's cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ. 4For if someone comes to you and preaches a Jesus other than the Jesus we preached, or if you receive a different spirit from the one you received, or a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it easily enough.

Colossians 2:18 Do not let anyone who delights in false humility and the worship of angels disqualify you for the prize. Such a person goes into great detail about what he has seen, and his unspiritual mind puffs him up with idle notions.

G. Do not be like the waves and blown here and there

Ephesians 4:14 Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming.

H. We must condemn them

Galatians 1:7-9 which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ. 8But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned! 9As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let him be eternally condemned!

I. They suffer sudden destruction.

I I Peter 2:11 But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them, bringing swift destruction on themselves.

J. Woe unto them!

Jude 11-13 Woe to them! They have taken the way of Cain, they have rushed for profit into Balaam's error, they have been destroyed in Korah's rebellion. 12These men are blemishes at your love feasts, eating with you without the slightest qualm-shepherds who feed only themselves. They are clouds without rain, blown along by the wind; autumn trees, without fruit and uprooted-twice dead. 13They are wild waves of the sea, foaming up their shame; wandering stars, for whom blackest darkness has been reserved forever.
